ÖFB: Austrian National Soccer Teams

As we know, there are many national soccer teams.Today I want to talk about ÖFB, the Austrian national soccer team. There is the women's team, the men's team, the youth teams, starting at U15 and some paralympic teams.

Founding

ÖFB was founded on the 18th of March 1904. Its predecessors were representatives of teams such as Wiener AC and First Vienna FC. The first ÖFB präsident was called Edgar Freiherr von Spens-Boden. 

Men’s Team

The ÖFB Team, which was also competing at the recent World Cup, is currently trained by Ralf Rangnick. Overall the team has achieved lots of successes. Not only competing at the current World Cup, but also winning 3rd place at the World Cup in 1954 in Switzerland and winning 4th place at the World Cup in 1934 in Italy. The Austrian record goalscorer is Toni Polster, who scored 44 goals in 95 international matches.

Womens Team

The ÖFB Women's team is currently led by Lars Sondergaard (since April 2026). The Austrian Women were also able to celebrate some successes, such as being in the Semi-finals at the Women's EURO 2017 in the Netherlands and in 2022 they made it to the quarter-finals. The record player is Sarah Puntigam, and the record goalscorer is Nina Burger who scored 53 goals.
