#32 Team WRT Takes Race 1 Victory at Misano

Kevin van der Linde and Charles Weerts took victory in GT World Challenge Europe with Team WRT.

Home-hero Valentino Rossi claimed pole position at for the first time in GT World Challenge #46 Team WRT BMW for Race 1 at Misano. Starting alongside the #46 is #66 Tresor Attempto Racing Audi of Frassineti and Levi and #80 Lionspeed GP Porsche of Feller and Buus.
Race 1 got going and the #66 Audi demolished Dani Juncadella’s Mercedes. Rossi has fallen down the order to fourth. In the lead after the incident was the #32 Team WRT of Weerts. Both the Audi and Mercedes involved in the incident were classified DNF’s. With the safety car neutralising the grid, it was time for restart with 53 minutes to go and an exceptional restart from Weerts. Rossi and Auer went wheel by wheel but it was Rossi who managed to defend his position.
The race control team were investigating the start, Valentino Rossi was handed a 10 second penalty for a jump start as well the #222 of Jewiss. With the pit window open, Valentino Rossi drove into the pits to switch with Max Hesse and after the penalty the #46 came out in 30th. Leading with 17 minutes to go it was the #32 of van der Linde and the #80 of Buus behind him. After other cars pitted the #46 managed to make its way up into sixth place. In the first sector, marshals were waving yellow flags for the #555 CSA Racing of Gachet and Andriolo in the final five minutes.
