The first day of track action kicks off for the competitive Formula 2 field, as the drivers set to practice and perfect their laps around the Hungaroring.

Practice got off to a rocky start as a red flag was called early in the session for a stranded Ritomo Miyata down at turn one, after finding the braking limit for the corner. With 35 minutes left on the clock, the session resumed with a flurry of action, countless lockups and ventures off into the runoff areas.
Hitech’s Luke Browning left it late to set the fastest lap of the session with a 1:30.609, one and a half tenths ahead of Redbull Junior Oliver Goethe, who drove his MP into second. Championship contender Alex Dunne ended the session in third with a 1:30.911, 3 tenths off the pace. The driver who is currently at the top of the standings, Leonardo Fornaroli, was down in twelfth, seven tenths off the pace, needing to find time before qualifying.
Veteran Richard Verschoor in the second MP car finished ninth with a 1:31.044, with Dams’ Jak Crawford two spots behind in eleventh. Going into Qualifying, many drivers were looking to improve on their lap times and get into the top 10 grid slots for both races.

Your Aramco Pole Position goes to, for the first time, Invicta’s Roman Stanek, who will start Sunday’s Feature Race in the best seat of the house, leading a one-two with teammate and rookie sensation Leonardo Fornarolli. Stanek is set to lead the field away for the 37-lap Feature Race.
With a pole lap of 1:28.779, a tenth and a half up on the entire field, Stanek looks to capitalise on this position after receiving his maiden Feature Race win post-race in the stewards' room.
Verschoor narrowly misses out on the top ten with a 1:29.357, meaning he will find himself in eleventh place for both races. Crawford, a championship contender, will start on the second row alongside Hitech’s Browning for Sunday’s race.
Campos’ Josep Marti will be the Sprint pole-sitter alongside Irishman Alex Dunne in his Papaya-liveried Rodin. Marti’s teammate, Lindblad, ended in eighth with a 1:29.213, meaning he will be on the second row for Saturday’s 28-lap Sprint to the flag.
