American Powerhouse: Egozi Secures Eurocup-3 Championship at Jerez
Palou Motorsport’s James Egozi secured the Eurocup-3 Driver’s Championship with two race weekends remaining for the series.
Lammers started the final race at Jerez on pole with championship leader James Egozi starting alongside him on the front row.
The lights went out and it was pedal to the metal, Lammers leading the grid through the opening corner as one of the Drivex cars hit the barrier on the start which was Kolovos. Yellow flags waved and the safety car deployed but more incidents occurred on the grid as Kacper Sztuka and James Hedley both went off the circuit with Sztuka and Bostandjiev out of the race.
The restart occurred with over 22 minutes to go, Lammers and Egozi went wheel to wheel as Lammers managed to hold onto the lead.
A historical weekend for Renè Lammers, taking his maiden win in the series, seeing the chequered flag first and Egozi crossing the line as the 2026 Eurocup-3 Drivers Champion with a record 12th podium and taking the championship earlier than anyone with two races left.
Over the season, Egozi has been more than consistent, taking that top step of the podium eight times which was enough for the American to seal the title at Jerez.
