After 18 years, the Gunners beat champions league favourites through a tense encounter.

Cagey Opening as Both Sides Settle
The UWCL (UEFA Women's Champions League) was well underway in Lisbon's bright sun as both teams fought for one thing. Arsenal pushed early, creating a brilliant chance in the eighth minute but couldn't convert. Barcalona soon followed as they fired two quick shots - both narrowly missing.
By the 15-minute mark, Barça were dominating possession (59%), but Arsenal looked dangerous on the break. A tense first half saw chances at both ends, including a powerful Maanum strike saved by Cata Coll.
Own Goal Drama and VAR Tension
In the 21st minute, Arsenal took the lead in dramatic fashion. A slip from Barça’s Claudia Pina led to an own goal, though Barcelona appealed for offside. VAR intervened and the goal was disallowed.
Domselaar Shines in the Second Half
Barcelona came out pressing, but Daphne van Domselaar delivered a series of crucial saves to keep Arsenal ahead. Substitutions came thick and fast - Paralluelo for Pina, then Mead and Blackstenius on for Arsenal.
Blackstenius Breaks Through
After a disallowed effort earlier, Arsenal’s persistence paid off in the 74th minute. Blackstenius latched onto a loose ball at the halfway line and calmly ran up the pitch and slotted it past Cata Coll - 1–0 to Arsenal.
Final Push and Farewell Moments
As tension rose, Arsenal brought on Lina Hurtig - her final appearance before departing the club. With seven minutes added, Barcelona pushed for a late equaliser, but Arsenal stood firm.
