Aston Martin stepped into 2025 looking to build a solid foundation for the future, creating a driver’s academy and building their Formula 1 team to enhance their performance in 2026. Here is what 2025 was like for this team.

Highlights
Aston Martin has had a year of building, adding Adrian Newey to the team for 2026 and trying to build a solid foundation for the future. This year had some nice touches, like a 5th place in Hungary for Fernando Alonso, and some surprise Q3 appearances for the duo.
Struggles
Unfortunately, they also racked up 7 DNF’s, due to brake fires, collisions or crashes, reducing their point scoring opportunities. It seemed that the team was also having some tension between drivers and engineers with Fernando Alonso getting angry at his engineer for speaking to him every lap. This does not mean they dislike each other, rather a build-up of tension under high-stakes environments.
Statistics
Aston Martin finished seventh in the 2025 Constructors’ Championship with a total of 89 points. Alonso came 10th in the World Drivers’ Championship with 56 points and Stroll finished 16th, ending the season on 33 points. Neither Alonso nor Stroll managed any wins or podiums in the 2025 season with Alonso’s highest finish being a P5 at the Hungarian Grand Prix and Stroll’s being P6 at the Australian Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso
Alonso had a tough 2025 season, with two DNF’s in Australia and China following a crash into the barriers and a brake fire on lap 4, respectively. For the 5 races following this, he finished outside of the top ten before another DNF in Monaco. After the race in the Monégasque principality, Alonso’s results started to improve with some finishes in the top ten, until the race at Spa where he finished P17. His best result came at the Hungarian Grand Prix where he ended in P5. In the second half of the season, he had another two DNF’s in Italy and at the Mexican Grand Prix.
Lance Stroll
Stroll had a decent start to the 2025 season with a P6 finish in Australia, which was his best finish of the season, and P9 in China. Following this, he had 8 finishes outside of the top 10 before a P7 finish at Silverstone. Stroll had another two P7 finishes at the Hungarian Grand Prix and at Zandvoort. During the season, he had two DNF’s, one in Las Vegas, following a collision with Gabriel Bortoleto on the first lap of the race and the second DNF was during the Grand Prix in Qatar.
All in all, it was a decent season for the team. Looking ahead to 2026, having Adrian Newey as Team Principal might give them an edge when it comes to the new regulations.
