After a chaotic Monaco Grand Prix which saw a plethora of penalties the F1 circus heads to Barcelona for round 7 of the 2026 Calendar.

Track Facts

The host of the Grand Prix is Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya just north of Barcelona in Montmeló. It has a track length of 4.657km making the race distance 307.236km or 66 laps of racing action. Our fastest lap was set last season by Oscar Piastri at 1:15.743s but could he or another of the 21 drivers set a new record in this new era of Formula One?

2025 Recap

Last year saw another McLaren dominance with Oscar Piastri taking the win and Lando Norris in second. Defending 2024 champion - Max Verstappen - was in hot water after a tussle with George Russell resulting in a 10 second time penalty. A late safety car due to Kimi Antonelli (current championship leader) having a mechanical failure meant the rest of the field took a cheap pitstop for softs to hopefully increase track position, could this be repeated in 2026?

2026 Expectations

It’s clear that Mercedes are going to be the top dogs in Barcelona but with McLaren and Ferrari right behind them anyone could take the win. Tensions rising in the Brackley based team garages, due to a clear difference in car reliability and team performance, may result in an on track battle gone too far as we have seen in the past with Hamilton and Rosberg. Can George have a points scoring weekend or will Antonelli extend his winning streak once again?
