The next team principal change has recently been announced; with the likes of Cadillac, Red Bull and Sauber/Audi making their respective team principal changes known earlier on in the season, Aston Martin is now joining those ranks with their own such move.

Ahead of the final two races of the 2025 Formula One season, Aston Martin has announced that Adrian Newey will be appointed as the team’s next team principal, with the change set to take place ahead of the 2026 season.
Newey was previously brought onto the team by Lawrence Stroll as a technical partner, assuming responsibility for areas such as car design.
When he takes charge, he will be the third Aston Martin team principal to take on the role of team principal over the course of the last three seasons; Mike Krack was the team principal in 2024, while former Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrain boss Andy Cowell assumed such a role during the 2025 season.
As of this writing, it isn’t exactly clear what prompted the change in leadership, however Andy Cowell will take on the role of Chief Strategy Officer when Newey assumes the top job.
As per an X post released by Aston Martin: “Andy Cowell will take on a new role as Chief Strategy Officer, using his unique experience to help optimise the technical partnership between the Team, Honda, Aramco and Valvoline.
Adrian Newey will take on the role of Team Principal from 2026 and will be guiding the technical team, including the trackside operations of the car.”
Aston Martin will conclude their 2025 Formula One season with both Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll expected to compete in the final three events. The team will resume their preparations for 2026 when pre-season testing begins in January.
