BREAKING: Jesper Jensen returns to Team Esbjerg
Jesper Jensen is set to return as head coach of Team Esbjerg’s women’s team in the summer of 2027. He will take over from Tomas Axnér on a three-year contract.

Earlier this month, the former professional handball player, Jesper Jensen, announced he would leave his position as head coach at the Hungarian powerhouse FTC, with one year remaining on the contract.
Jensen will be replacing Tomas Axnér, who's stepping down to focus on the Swedish national team, in the summer of 2027 on a three-year contract.
Having spent seven years as head coach for Team Esbjerg, the Dane knows the club well.
During his time there - which ended in 2024 - Jensen led the club to four Danish women's league, three cup titles, three supercup titles as well as securing bronze medals at the EHF Champions League FINAL4.
His return comes at a time of change for the Danish club. Norwegian star Henny Reistad is set to leave for French side Brest at the end of the season after six seasons with Team Esbjerg.
Jensen will therefore face the challenge of rebuilding the squad while keeping Team Esbjerg among the elite.
“I am well aware that it won’t be as simple as plug and play when I return to Team Esbjerg. Players have left the club over the past three years, while new ones have arrived. Together, we have to build something new, and I need to get to know them both as players and as people” Jensen said in the club’s announcement.
With several changes ahead, Jensen will have the task of shaping a new Team Esbjerg, as the club prepares for significant changes ahead of the 2027/2028 season.
