The first head coach firing has taken place in the NFL, with Brian Daboll recently being let go by the New York Giants. Here’s everything you need to know about the recent news.

After three-and-a-half seasons at the helm, Brian Daboll is being fired from the role of head coach of the New York Giants.
Despite a successful first season that saw him guide New York to its first playoff berth in five years and its first playoff win since their Super Bowl victory in 2011, Brian Daboll had struggled to put together any sort of momentum around that first season. Outside of that 9-7-1 record, Brian Daboll earned just eleven wins over the next two-and-a-half seasons.
This year, the New York Giants got off to a 2-8 start, with both quarterback Russell Wilson and rookie Jaxson Dart starting games for the team. Such a start was characterized by upset wins over the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles as well as four blown double-digit fourth quarter leads. The most infamous of these losses was a blown nineteen-point lead heading into the fourth quarter against the Denver Broncos.
It was after that same game that the Giants actually considered firing Brian Daboll, but ultimately decided against it.
I guess that didn’t pay any dividends for the team.
With Brian Daboll gone, the New York Giants are set to appoint offensive coordinator Mike Kafka as the team’s interim head coach. He will be set to make his debut next Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, before closing out a gauntlet of a stretch against the Detroit Lions and the New England Patriots.
