Atlassian Williams Racing have announced Luke Browning as one of their two reserve drivers for the foreseeable future.

Who is Luke Browning?
Luke Browning is a 23-year-old British driver who will be competing in Super Formula with Kondo Racing in Japan in 2026, alongside his duty as a reserve driver for the Formula 1 team. Luke has previously raced in many different categories through the years, including FIA Formula 2 with Hitech in 2025, where he finished 4th in the drivers' standings, FIA Formula 3 also with Hitech, where he came 3rd and featured in the last three rounds of the Formula 2 2024 season, filling in for Zak O'Sullivan at ART Grand Prix.
What is Luke Browning's partnership with the Atlassian Williams Racing Academy?
Luke Browning has been in the academy for 3 years. The 23-year-old joined the academy in 2023 after winning the 2022 GB3 title with Hitech GP, with 5 race victories and 8 further podiums on his way to the title. This also gives Luke exposure to new sponsorship deals, private testing time with the team, some sim time with the team back at the base in preparation for his next race in his series and some time spent around Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon, gathering anything he can off them to take into the season ahead.
What will Luke be doing in this role?
In a reserve position role, Luke will attend races as a backup driver ready to race if Carlos Sainz or Alex Albon is injured or otherwise unable to whilst also doing simulator work back at the factory, attend briefings, and provide data analysis at the factory. He will also be involved in meeting with team partners, Q and A sessions and representing the team at promotional events.
