Celtic have announced they will be parting ways with manager Wilfred Nancy, along with his assistants Kwame Ampadu, Jules Gueguen, and Maxime Chalier. This comes days after Celtic’s defeat to rivals Rangers over the weekend.

Celtic’s run of form has been nothing short of embarrassing, losing 6 out of 8 games in all competitions. Nancy’s first game in charge was a 2-1 loss at Parkhead to league leaders Hearts. Days after he would have his first taste of European football, they would lose 3-0 to Italian giants Roma, however, fans would come out to say that the result was unsurprising and Nancy was not at fault. The poor run of form would continue as Celtic would lose 3-1 in the Scottish Cup final, 3-1 against St Mirren, and another league game loss 2-1 to Dundee United. Fans and players would start to get frustrated, but they would be able to sigh or relief as Celtic would win 2 games in a row, 3-1 to Aberdeen, and 4-2 against Livingston. Despite this however, fans were unconvinced that hiring Nancy was a good move. They would be proven right as they would lose 2-0 to Motherwell and 3-1 in the Old Firm derby against Rangers.

The 48-year-old had come from the American side Columbus crew and had signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Celtic, however only lasted 36 days, along with 8 professional matches with the Scottish side.

It has been confirmed by Celtic FC that interim manager Martin O’Neill will get a second chance being Celtic boss until the end of the season on a second interim basis, being assisted by Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham, who had previously assisted him in his first spell at the club.

With Celtic being 2nd in the Premiership table, 6 points behind leaders Hearts, level on points with their rivals Rangers, and 2 points in front of underdogs Motherwell, this move will hopefully get Celtic back into the title race and possibly win the league if they can start performing.
