British F4 Stun Thruxton

The young British Formula 4 drivers took on Thruxton circuit, but how did they do?

Qualifying kicked off the weekend by displaying the speed of these drivers. Rookie, Jaber Alsabah took pole after completing 15 laps with a top time of 1:11.805 and top speed of 118.12mph. It was a close fight with rookie Lewis Wherrell, completing his lap 0.007 seconds behind to take second. Theo Palmer rounded off the top 3 0.044 seconds behind Alsabah. After qualifying, both Alfie Slater and Roman Felber had lap times deleted for exceeding track limits, dropping them multiple places.

For Race 1, Theo Palmer started on pole, with championship contender Dries Van Langendonck completing the front row. Both Haarni Sadiq and Jackson Wolny dropped places with a 3 place grid penalty being carried over from last time out in Zandvoort.

Race 1 began with action, Sun Anzhe and Qarrah Firhand retired on lap 1 after an incident, and then were followed by Timo Jüngling becoming the third lap 1 retire. After an excellent start, Van Langendonck retired 2 laps from the end of the race due to a failure. Theo Palmer came across the line first to take the win from pole and bring success to Hitech, Joseph Smith gained 3 places to take second and George Proudford-Nalder gained 4 places to finish off the podium.

Heading into race 2, Adam Al Azhari lined up on pole followed by multiple race winner Tommy Harfield, both with an aim to win and gain valuable points. Your winner from race 1, Theo Palmer lined up in 10th, with an aim to gain positions.

Cole Heweston and Mate Kobahidze both retired on Lap 1, causing disappointment for Xcel Motorsport and leaving them with lots to make up for in Race 3. Dries Van Langendonck suffered with his second DNF of the weekend on Lap 7. The top 2 remained unchanged after multiple battles, Al Azhari took the win and Harfield followed 1.218 seconds behind to claim second. Ethan Jeff-Hall came across the line to round off the podium and claim his first of the weekend. 

For race 3, the drivers lined up as they finished in qualifying, however Scott Kin Lindblom faced a 5 place grid penalty and Joseph Smith took a 3 place grid penalty, setting them both back.

Ethan Lennon and Timo Jüngling both faced difficulties on Lap 1 and DNF’d without completing a lap for the last race of the weekend. Kin Lindblom followed 2 laps later DNF’ing as well. Alsabah held onto 1st place and took his first win of the weekend, followed by Wherrell 0.269 seconds behind. Van Langendonck came in to round off the podium, and make it a complete rookie top 3.
