First Half

The match kicked off, both teams wanted a place in the semi-finals. China PR took off with a different style of lineup from what we had seen this tournament, pressuring each other. China had full control of the midfield, and Chinese Taipei was put to the test with China’s pressure on them.

In the 16th minute, China took a corner and had a great delivery into the box, but it was kicked back outfield. Fast forward, China took a lovely delivery, but it ended up in Chinese Taipei’s goalkeeper’s hands. Chinese Taipei had good defence, clearing the ball from China, who were trying to get the ball in the back of the net.

In the 21st minute, a Chinese Taipei player was down. The player thankfully was able to get back up and continue. In the 23rd minute, China had very smooth passes and tried to shoot, but it was just too high and went above the crossbar. China had a good structure, spreading around the pitch and passing smoothly, but Chinese Taipei’s defence was too strong. Their goalkeeper was saving shot after shot, very committed to the game.

Chinese Taipei hit the ball away so that China had no chance. China had another corner, hoping it would end in the back of the net, but a small pass was headed away. Chinese Taipei slowly but smoothly went down the pitch. They tried to get more into the game, but China cleared the ball every time they got close.

In the 38th minute, China whizzed down the pitch and headed it right into the back-right side of the net—what a goal! A well-deserved goal, but there was an ongoing VAR check. Unfortunately, the decision was made that there was no goal. China was not impressed by that decision. An additional 5 minutes of extra time was added. China took another strike, which landed right into the goalkeeper’s hands in the last minute of extra time.

Second Half

After half-time, the game restarted with China having strong ball possession. China had a chance to score, passing between each player, but the shot was just wide. Chinese Taipei’s defence was so strong, saving many clear chances for China. China kept shooting from difficult angles, but the Chinese Taipei goalkeeper remained strong and saved them.

Chinese Taipei tested the goal, finding a shot and taking it, but it was not strong enough to hit the back post and ended up in the keeper’s hands. China had another amazing shot on target, but it was just too high again and went over the post.

With only 25 minutes left of play, there were still no goals from either team. Chinese Taipei needed to get themselves more involved on the ball. Seven minutes of extra time was added, but still no goal. China had another good chance, but it was too high again.

The Chinese Taipei goalkeeper went down, so the game was stopped and then restarted, leading into extra time. Both teams grew frustrated, fighting hard for a goal, but China PR finally scored an amazing goal on the right-hand side of the net.

An extra 3 minutes was added to the 30 minutes of extra time, and in the 120th minute, China scored another amazing goal. This led them to the semi-finals against Australia!
