European Athletics Championships 2026 Birmingham UK Preview

From August 10-16 the European Athletics Championships are going to be held at Birmingham UK with Olympic Champions, world class athletes and of course a strong Greek contingent is set to battle for European glory at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.

The wait is almost over. From Monday August 10th until August 16th, the attention of the athletics world turns to Birmingham, where Europe’s finest athletes will meet for seven days of competition at the 2026 European Athletics Outdoor Championships.

Great Britain will host the outdoor European Athletics championships, with the newly redeveloped Alexander Stadium preparing to welcome some of the biggest names in the sport. The venue, which was also the centrepiece of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, is set to provide the stage for a week of high level track and field action.

To sum up more than 1500 athletes representing over 50 nations expected in Birmingham, the championships promise a packed programme of 50 events and some fascinating battles for European supremacy.
