This Friday, Milton Keynes face Oxford United in the FA cup at their home ground, Stadium MK. It's set to be an action-packed game for the potential 30,500 fans attending, with MK expected to be the underdogs despite the injury crisis at Oxford.

It's the first time the teams have played each other since 2023, when they played each other twice, once in the EFL Trophy and once in League One. Since then, MK have been relegated from League One to League Two, while Oxford United were promoted to the Championship the following season.

Team preview and current form - Oxford

In recent games, Oxford have not been doing well, with 4 losses and 1 win in their last 5 games played in the EFL Championship.

This is mainly down to the fact that they currently have 6 injured players, most of which will not be returning until mid to late January, adding some surprising doubt to what would have been their assumed success against the team two leagues lower than them.

As well as this, Oxford recently sacked their short-term manager, Gary Rowett, due to poor match performance and the risk of getting the team relegated.

They currently have not hired a full-time replacement, but have confirmed their interim manager, Craig Short, will be leading them into this FA cup match.

Team preview and current form - MK Dons

Unlike Oxford, MK Dons have had a better run in their last 5 games, losing one, winning two and drawing two. It's important to note, as previously stated, that MK play lower/easier teams due to being in League Two compared to those Oxford face.

Additionally, MK Dons have not had many injuries in recent weeks. With one player due to make a return and play in Friday's match and the team's captain, although healed from injury and fit to play, Manager Paul Warne says his captain will not start as he doesn't want to create an excess risk of a relapse.

In conclusion, Friday's match could be a very close one due to both teams' current playing form and injuries, despite the league gap. It promises intense action for all fans and viewers watching
