Let’s start by going through the contenders from GB3.

Jack Taylor (pictured far left) has been racing in GB3 with Fortec Motorsport during the 2026 season and currently sits 21st in the standings after not having competed in Rounds 3 & 4 at the Hungaroring and the Red Bull Ring. Prior to racing in GB3, Taylor spent two seasons in the GB4 Championship where he achieved two wins with two additional podiums in the 2025 season.

Piers Prior (pictured left) is currently a GB3 commentator and presenter who had raced in the BRDC British F3 Championship in 2020 (now known as GB3). During his time as a racing driver, Prior was able to get a win in the first round of the season.

James Hedley (pictured right) was an FIA Formula 3 driver between 2024 & 2025 with Van Amersfoort Racing and AIX Racing. The Briton had also competed in the GB3 Championship in between 2021-2024, racing at the Donington Park finale in 2021, completing two full seasons alongside Elite Motorsport & JHR Developments and spent 2024 with VRD Racing by Arden where he contested the first two rounds. Hedley is also part of the BRDC Rising Star Programme.

Rowan Campbell-Pilling (pictured far right) currently competes in the 2026 GB3 Championship with Xcel Motorsport as following Round 5 at Silverstone has stood on the podium three times. Prior to this, the Briton spent two years competing in the British F4 Championship where he got one race win and four additional podiums over the two years.

Spencer Wilds (pictured left) is a 16-year-old karter who currently competes in the DMAX SuperChamps karting championship which is hosted by Daytona Motorsport.

Lucas Blakeley (pictured right) is a British racing driver who had raced for the McLaren Shadow E-Sports team in 2022 where he claimed his maiden Esports title and had then stayed with the team for another two seasons before leaving at the end of 2025. Blakeley had also made his GB4 debut in 2023 with KMR Sport at Snetterton and had returned for another part time appearance in 2024. In 2025, the Briton had made a one off return to GB4 with Douglas Motorsport for the season finale at Donington finishing third on his return.

Demitri Nolan (pictured far right) is an American racing driver who competes in the 2026 GB4 Championship with Hillspeed currently sits 20th in the driver standings with 71 points. Nolan’s best finish this season came at Round 3 at Donington Park where he achieved his first GB4 podium finishing Race 3 of the weekend in second.

But why are these drivers taking part?

The kart race taking place at Silverstone on Monday 24th August 2026 at 15:00 is being hosted as a charity fundraiser by #TeamWill37 - the racing support campaign for British racing driver Will Macintyre who was forced to step down from the GB3 Championship in 2025 following severe health challenges.

The funds raised via this charity event will go towards an iMRI (Intra Operative Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scanner at the Addenbrooke's Hospital which will allow patients with similar conditions to Will to undergo vital real-time, high resolution scans while in theatre which would do one of two things. Firstly, it would provide speedier diagnoses and would reduce the number of required visits to hospitals.

However, there are also other ways to take part and help. Donations for the project can be made via purchasing a sticker from Will’s website or by bidding in the silent auction which has items for all budgets with the majority being motorsport related but there are also gift hampers and day trips.
