Fred Green, the championship leader, managed to secure a third race victory after withstanding challenges from front-running driver Alex O’Grady.

Qualifying for the GB4 Championship at Oulton Park saw current championship leader Fred Green put his Elite Motorsport car at the top of the timesheet with a lap time of 1:34.350. Alex O’Grady missed out on pole by 0.043s but still started at the front of the grid alongside Enzo Hallman, Thomas Ingram-Hill and Matan Achituv, this set the starting order for Race 1. Originally, Luke Hilton qualified fourth however his lap time was deleted for exceeding track limits meaning he will now be starting Race 1 in the fifth row in P9. Hilton wasn’t the only driver to get his lap times deleted, the same happened to Byrne, Del Grosso, Smyth, O’Donnell, Nolan, McDaniel and Rujugiro but it didn’t impact their starting positions for this race.
A great start from Green and Hallman but a few corners in, Fred Green and Alex O’Grady were battling for that top spot, going wheel to wheel down towards Island Bend but Green managed to hang onto the race lead. Ingram-Hill had a bit of a slow start off the line but managed to keep his car in fourth. With the track temperature reaching up to 35℃ the tyres will be going through a lot of degradation and the drivers were waiting for their tyre pressure to come up to temperature. The Arden Motorsport car of Charlie Myers came into the pits after losing his front wing. With a quarter of the race still to go the Fox Motorsport car of Archie Bullard was made to retire after an issue with the front left tyre, an unfortunate start to his weekend. We saw the Fortec Motorsport and Hillspeed cars fight for position with Thomas Ingram-Hill trying to get in front of Enzo Hallman at the front of the pack and Jordyn Martin trying to close in on Demitri Nolan. Iskander went off near the outside of Cascades with rear suspension damage attempting to drive his car back to the pitlane.
Like qualifying there were a few warnings being given for track limits, with a black & white flag being waved for the #42 car of Luke Hilton followed by Jasser Iskander who was driving to the pitlane regardless. With 10 minutes to go the 88 car of Jordyn Martin went off backwards in the grass, she managed to get back on track but she lost 9 positions. Some damage was seen on the front of Lily-May Watkins car. Myers, who lost his front wing earlier in the race joined the pack again with five minutes to go, meaning he was a lap down. With four minutes to go the car of Luke Hilton came to a stop following a mechanical failure and fell to the back of the pack.
A third victory of the 2026 season for Fred Green, what a race for Elite Motorsport! Alex O’Grady was close to Green for the whole race but couldn’t quite catch up, nonetheless he took second place and stood on the podium for the second time this season. Alongside the both of them on the podium was Hillspeed’s Enzo Hallman making this his second podium finish.

Jon Jackson spoke to podium finishers in the post-race interviews starting with race winner Fred Green.
JJ - “Fred congratulations on the pole position to the chequered flag, you have only won races that have started with the qualifying grid so far this season, two at Silverstone, one here, how are you feeling after that one.”
FG - “Yeah, quite hot but it was a good race, Alex kept me under lots of pressure which was exciting, a bit different to the other races I’ve won, but it was a good race and I’m so grateful to the team and my engineer + driver coach and I’m looking forward to the next races.”
Following this, he spoke to O’Grady.
JJ - “You pushed him all the way there but no real slip up, I guess you were just waiting on one mistake you could capitalise on.”
AO - “Yeah, I think around here it’s nearly impossible if you’re the same pace and you’re in the dirty air it’s really tough because you get really close and you start understeering and using up your tyres so about halfway through the race I backed off, there was no point sitting in dirty air and I knew he wasn’t going to make and major mistakes so there was no point to try and push him too hard but you know we got a good start for once and I nearly had him into T2 but I didn’t want to risk chopping across him because I would have ended up being taken out and he would have kept on going so yeah good points and I’m happy enough with it.”
Finally, he spoke to Enzo Hallman.
JJ - “Enzo, also your second podium of the season, how are you feeling after that one, it was tough to make too much progress on those two.”
EH - “Yeah, I mean I made a small mistake in T1,I think I touched the grass a little bit and the rear fell out so yeah thats really when I lost it so just trying to keep the tyres as good as possible when having Ingram behind me, but yeah it was a good race and we kept it simple and clean.”

This rounds off the first race in Oulton Park for the GB4 Championship with Races 2&3 taking place on bank holiday Monday.
