The Aussie driver took the Sprint Race win at Imola in a very chaotic race.

The Eurocup-3 Sprint Race sees Patrick Heuzenroeder start on pole with Juan Cota joining him on Row 1. Heuzenroeder had a great start off the line. Tarnvanichkul stalled his car at the start and couldn’t get away as many cars went into the back of him, triggering a red flag. It was because Feldmann, Bostandjiev and Panetta hadn't gotten moving from where they were on the grid.
Drivers leave the pitlane under the safety car with 16 minutes of racing to go. With the safety car back in, back to racing the drivers go, an excellent restart for Heuzenroeder as further down the track yellow flags are waved for the Palou Motorsport cars of Perard and Dall’Agnol, an unfortunate end to Dall’Agnol’s race. Also seeming like there is damage to the Double R Racing car of Bart Harrison who drove into the pitlane with a broken front wing. These incidents led to the deployment of another safety car.
On the second restart, it’s Heuzenroeder that leads once more and it’s another incident further back with the TC Racing of Renzo Barbuy and the Palou Motorsport of Rafael Perard who had a lucky escape in the first incident but now came to the end of his race. Yellow flags being waved and the grid being neutralised once more with the release of the safety car.
The drivers go back to racing once more, Patrick Heuzenroeder has a great restart while Sztuka goes wide. Going side by side are Eyckmans and Al Azhari and what a move made by Keanu Al Azhari.
Almost three-wide go Al Azhari, Eyckmans and Sztuka with Egozi also in the mix. Wide goes Al Azhari and into the gravel, rejoining the track with a damaged left rear. The Emirati driver pulled over with a halt and yellow flags waved in the first sector. Into the gravel also went Nacho Tuñón.
Patrick Heuzenroeder takes the sprint race win, over 1.5s clear of Juan Cota who finished in second. Rounding up the podium places was Genaro Trappa.
Currently leading the championship it is now Egozi from Ean Eyckmans by 39 points. Race 2 will take place at 8:45 CEST on Sunday.
