An iconic circuit by the Welsh coast, but what's the history behind it?

The Anglesey Circuit (also known as Trac Môn in Welsh) is a circuit located on a former British Army and RAF base. It was in 1997 that the facilities were upgraded and the circuit was developed with an installation of a small permanent pitlane. This was also when the circuit gained its Motor Sports Association license. The original circuit looked like that below.

It was in 2006 that Anglesey Circuit saw massive changes, when the majority of the 1.701km (1.057mi) circuit was scrapped in favour of a newer development which included four different track layouts: an International Circuit which is 3.380 km (2.100 mi) in length, the Coast Circuit 2.494 km (1.550 mi), a National Circuit 1.931km (1.200 mi) and a Club Circuit 1.287 km (0.800 mi). There were plans submitted in 2019 to further redesign the circuit and add additional paddock and hospitality facilities at the circuit.

Anglesey Circuit has also hosted major events such as the Race of Remembrance.
