BWT Alpine F1 Team have recently announced that ex-F1 and reserve driver, Jack Doohan, will not be continuing to fulfil his role within the team for the 2026 Formula 1 Season.

The news comes months after he was dropped from the second Alpine F1 seat, only 5 races into 2025, after failing to score points and showing no signs of improvement.
He was replaced by Argentine Franco Colapinto, who also failed to score points for the remainder of the season. Despite this, Colapinto’s season's best performance was slightly better than Doohan's, which gave Alpine more confidence in Colapinto's development and led to him being offered a contract for 2026 alongside their long-term driver, Pierre Gasly.
Now moving into 2026 where all the F1 grid spots have been filled, including Alpine's two seats, there is no current possibility for Jack to rejoin the grid causing a breakdown in the relationship. An official announcement this morning stated that Alpine had “Reached a mutual agreement with Jack Doohan not to continue his driving services with the team for the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship season and allow him to pursue other career opportunities.”
It is currently unclear whether Jack will continue to have Alpine sponsorship in whichever racing category he undertakes next, with the statement only referring to his driving roles within Formula One for the team.
Everyone at The Rookie Reporters wishes Jack Doohan the best of luck in his next racing endeavour
