One of the most notable racers within the Formula E Championship has announced he will be stepping back from racing following the closure of the current season.

He has stated the decision came with “emotion, but also peace” after a “nightmarish” Mahindra period and a frustrating season so far, with the 41-year-old yet to claim points. However the 2016/17 season champion is reported to assist Lola Yamaha ABT in the developments for the Gen4 competitor in the off-season. The Brazilian is said to be moving into a management role to add to the value of the sport beyond the race track.
As one of, if not, the most recognised racer in Formula E, having joined the grid at its inception in 2014, he has had a tremendously fruitful career with over 40 podiums,13 of which were wins. Di Grassi has raced for the likes of Audi, Venturi, Mahindra and Lola Yamaha accumulating a total of 1077 championship points. His departure will leave a legacy as one of the most successful in the sport, and being an undeniably consistent points finisher.
Lucas states that he will be competing with the same “intensity and commitment” that he has shown the world throughout his career. His final Formula E race will take place in London on the 16th of August so be sure to watch this legend take to the track for one last time.
