Marín Wins At Le Mans: French GP Recap

The 2026 MotoGP season continued on Sunday the 10th of May at the Bugatti Circuit in France. This article will give you a recap of what happened during the race, to ensure you’re up to speed of all the things that happened.

A Tale Of Two Starts 

During the sprint race on Saturday, the tone was set clear for race day. Jorge Martín who started eighth in the sprint race performed an amazing from the outside, which got him in the lead by Turn 4, and kept it in the lead and getting the 12-point victory.


However, the main race on Sunday didn’t go as easy for Martín. Marco Bezzecchi got an early lead in the race, while  Martín found himself moving back to seventh place. Bezzecchi looked set for an easy race to victory, while  polesitter Francesco Bagnaia and Fabio Quartararo battled for a spot on the podium in first couple of laps

Jorge Martín in Charge 

The deciding moment of the race came during the last couple of laps. Martín was on a strong pace, sometimes even half a second quicker than the leaders of the race, he sliced through the field. After Francesco Bagnaia crashed on lap 15, the door opened for an all-Aprilia showdown.


Martín closed the gap of 1.5 second to Bezzecchi in four laps.  On the last lap, Martín performed his signature move up the inside of Turn 3 to grab the lead. He kept a hold of the lead until he crossed the line, where he secured victory, with just a 0.4 second gap with Bezzecchi , besides that he also got his first win with Aprillia

Historical Podiums And Local Pride

history was made in the battle for third place. Ai Ogura who drives for Trackhouse Racing, fought his way through the pack to secure his first ever podium, it also marked the first time a Japanese rider stood on the Motogp podium since 2012, it’s also another 1-2 lockout for Aprilia.


Home driver Fabio Quartararo gave the French fans enough to cheer for, finishing an amazing sixth place on the Yamaha. Despite not having the straight line speed of the European bikes, he also used his local knowledge to hold of Enea Bastianini in a tense final lap

2nd: Jorge Martín - 127 Pts

3th: Fabio Di Giannantonio - 84 Pts

4th: Pedro Acosta - 83 Pts

5th: Ai Ogura - 67 Pts
