Noel Leon wins Hungary Feature Race

Noel Leon captured his first ever Formula 2 Feature Race win, starting from third position.

The Campos Racing driver was held back in the first stint, sitting in second behind polesitter Kush Maini. However, the virtual safety car on Lap 17 gave him an amazing opportunity to slot himself into first position, keeping Maini and Invicta Racing’s Rafael Câmara behind due to their pit stops being held under normal racing conditions. With the checkered flag waving, the trio were separated by 1.8 seconds.

Behind the leaders, Durksen and Inthraphuvasak were battling over P5, and the Paraguayan driver found his position comfortably in front. Inthraphuvasak eventually found a way around on Lap 34, boldly overtaking on the inside to claim P5.

Championship leader Nikola Tsolov recovers from his 5 place grid penalty for causing a collision with Prema’s Sebastian Montoya in Saturday’s Sprint Race, which ultimately led to their DNFs. Finishing in P7, Tsolov continues his lead with 167 points.

The Championship Standings

Maini delivered another podium for ART Grand Prix for the first time since the Silverstone Feature Race. Câmara’s third place finish pushes himself closer into the championship fight, closing the gap between leader Tsolov and Gabriele Mini. Noel’s win boosts himself up to fifth place in the battle, settling himself behind Alex Dunne in fourth.

Campos Racing dominated the Team’s Standings on 261 points, distancing themselves from second place Invicta Racing on 187 points.
