The reverse grid race at the Red Bull Ring sees VRD Racing’s Rodrigo Gonzalez start on pole alongside his brother Patricio Gonzalez, a front row lockout for the Mexican drivers. On the formation lap Fairclough’s car stalled and got pushed to pitlane by the marshals. Twenty-two minutes on the clock was the updated time from race control after two formation laps and off they went, into the first corner it was Rodrigo Gonzalez leading from Patricio Gonzalez, Pulling in third went wide and lost a few positions.

Three cars out of the race after Fluxa’s car touched Rehm’s which led the cars of Abbi Pulling, Maxim Rehm and Rowan Campbell-Piling to end up the barrier. As a result of this the safety car was deployed and Nikita Bedrin managed to make it up to fifth from eleventh.

With 12 minutes to go, the safety car came in and it was back to green flag racing conditions. The restart saw Patricio Gonzalez build the gap to the VRD Racing of his brother, and with DRS enabled on the second lap, Bedrin was looking to make a move on Kyuho Lee to take the final podium spot for an all VRD Racing podium.

Three wide went Vinci, Nobels and Molnar and the Rodin Motorsport drivers got ahead of both Hillspeed’s. Stuck in the gravel trap was the Arden Motorsport of Lewis Gilbert at Schlossgold, leading to another safety car deployment which neutralised the field.

The Red Bull Ring saw three laps left on the restart, Patricio Gonzalez still kept the lead. Wheel to wheel went Jackes and Molnar but Jackes managed to defend well. Lee tried to go around the outside of Rodrigo Gonzalez, which led Lee into the gravel, the Elite Motorsport driver becoming the fifth retirement for the race.

The chequered flag was waved as Patricio Gonzalez crossed the line victorious for the first time. Finishing in second was his teammate and championship leader Nikita Bedrin, who took a third consecutive podium. Rounding off the podium for the reverse grid race was Arden Motorsport’s Leon Wilson.

Bedrin has now created a further gap to his championship lead with Fluxa being 106 points behind
