Box To Box, the production company that has overseen the success of sports docuseries’ like Drive to Survive, is partnering with Prime Video to bring another sports league into the spotlight - the AFL.

First, Drive to Survive brought Formula One into the global spotlight and triggered an unprecedented growth in following for the motorsport series.
Then, Full Swing took the boring side out of golf and gave viewers a chance to see a more personal side to some of the world’s most famous golfers.
It’s safe to say that Box To Box, which has overseen both of the aforementioned projects, has a high success rate in triggering renewed support on a global scale for many different sports.
But it’s not just Netflix, which released both docuseries, that is helping in growing these leagues.
Now, it’s Prime Video’s turn.
Box To Box announced that it is partnering with Prime Video to produce an AFL-focused docuseries, which will be set for release in 2026.
While this is set to be a significant collaboration, it won’t be the first time that Prime Video has ventured into sports documentaries. One of the most recent successes they oversaw was the docuseries FACEOFF: Inside the NHL, which documented the in-season experiences of some of the NHL’s biggest stars, including Connor McDavid and William Nylander.
The success of the series, alongside the growing popularity of the NHL worldwide, led to the docuseries being renewed for a second season, which is set for release in the fall.
As for what Prime Video and Box To Box are planning for the AFL, it seems that they’re going to follow the same formula that made Drive to Survive so successful. Specifically, the docuseries is set to cover the events of the 2025 AFL season, including Adelaide’s rise to contention, Collingwood’s return to the summit, and the respective collapses of the Sydney Swans and Carlton Football Club. By once again going behind the scenes, exposing the big storylines and giving viewers a front-row seat to the drama occurring within the league, Box To Box will be able to replicate the success of its previous initiatives and give new audiences a chance to learn about the AFL.
It is important to note that the aforementioned storylines of the 2025 AFL season, alongside others, have not been confirmed as central to the docuseries. In addition, at time of writing, no further details on the athletes or clubs to be featured have been announced.
