Black Sabbath singer and metal music legend Ozzy Osbourne has sadly passed away aged 76. In a statement, Osbourne’s family announced: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with family and surrounded by love.”

Ozzy, who went by many names in his remarkable career - most notably being The Prince of Darkness - is someone who you would not think would be in any way connected to the world of motorsports. However, unbelievably, the opposite is true.
In 2003 Ozzy attended the Canadian GP where he was interviewed by commentary legend Martin Brundle on the grid walk. “Did you bring the dogs with you?” Brundle asked him, Ozzy didn’t think twice before answering in the most Ozzy way possible: “No, they’re all home shitting.”

This month, IndyCar team Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) unveiled a special livery for their home race at Mid-Ohio to commemorate the historic final concert of Black Sabbath at the hotly anticipated “Back to the Beginning” concert. The concert took place on the 5th of July in Birmingham, England and featured an impressive musical lineup of metal bands including Alice in Chains, Metallica, Slayer and, of course, Black Sabbath. The livery was designed in collaboration with Ozzy and SiriusXM’s Ozzy’s Boneyard and featured an image of The Prince of Darkness himself. Speaking on the special livery, Meyer Shank driver Felix Rosenqvist said that, “I can’t wait to represent Ozzy and Ozzy’s Boneyard at Mid-Ohio.” He also added that the livery was, “totally different than anything we have ever done before and having Ozzy on the car - literally, his face is on the car, will be pretty epic.”
Ozzy Osbourne was a true musical legend, a heavy metal icon. Known for his wild antics on stage, his unlikely stint as a reality TV star and his music career both as a solo artist and as a lead vocalist in Black Sabbath, Osbourne will leave a lasting impression on the world of music forevermore. Rest in peace Ozzy - gone but never forgotten.
