Southampton Seal 5-0 Win Over QPR to Boost Hopes of Play Off Spot

Finn Azaz had given Southampton the lead at just 8 minutes in, curling a low shot into the corner, meaning Southampton had made an early start in this crucial game against 13th-place QPR.
But soon enough, the Saints had doubled the lead as Kuru Mutsaki had headed a corner into the goal, scoring his 1st goal for the Saints in the EFL Championships. Then, 5 minutes after half-time, the Japanese international had scored a 2nd goal as he had slotted the ball home to give the Saints a 3-0 lead.
At the 60th minute, Leo Scienza had added a 4th into the net as the clock had just gone into the 1hr mark. As he had broken down into space and had put the ball past the QPR Goalkeeper Joe Walsh.
James Bree had then scored the final goal of the game, later on at 70 minutes. After he had put the ball in the box after a deflection from a QPR player. But in the table, the Saints had gone from 11th place to 7th, meaning they are fighting for a playoff spot. While the visitors QPR stay in 13th place going into this wweek'sset of games.
During the game, both sides had calls for penalties, but they weren't given by the ref Oliver Langford. The 1st penalty was for QPRS Amadou Mbengue, who went down after getting past Ryan Manning. Moments later Southamptons Taylor Harwood - Bellis appeared to have been pulled back in the box.
Southampton hope they go into this weekend's game when they head to already relegated Sheffield Wednesday, hoping they can keep hold of their play-off spot. Meanwhile, QPR host Sheffield United,d hoping they can claim a crucial 3 points.
