Atletico Madrid is one of the most successful Spanish clubs with multiple European titles, 11 La Liga titles and plenty more great history.

The early years
Atletico Madrid was founded in 1903 by three Basque students living in Madrid. At first, it was just a youth branch of Athletic Bilbao; however, the club officially parted ways in 1921. While Athetico was still a small team, it struggled with limited funds, but as it began to grow a stronger fan base, the team and its fans were able to develop into the strong and loyal fan base seen today.

The comebacks and struggles
Atletico Madrid has faced numerous comebacks and struggles throughout their football history. Some of their struggles include tough results, financial problems and other issues, which have made it hard for them to remain competitive. Despite this, Atletico Madrid managed to make a comeback, developing and resolving their problems, showing their determination in Spanish football.
The times of transitioning at Atletico Madrid
The 1980s was a major time of change for Atletico Madrid. The club was still viewed as one of the more successful teams in the Spanish league. However, the club struggled to reach the same level of success it had previously. Earlier in the decade, they even suffered relegation from La Liga, although they returned to the top the following season.

Recent years
In recent years, Atletico Madrid has grown into one of the strongest and most consistent teams in European football. The club has won major trophies and challenged big teams like Barcelona and Real Madrid. Athletic Madrid has proven that dedication and hard work can help through high and low times, but also remember the club's rich and humble history.
