WAFCON - Morocco v Kenya

A game full of shots and chances in Group A with Morocco and Kenya here’s all you need to know.

A game was played in the stade prince moulay el hassan in Rabat Morocco. The last time these two sides had played each other was in an internal friendly when Morocco beat Kenya 5-1 in 2025. 

The hosts Morocco make an almost immediate impact on the game with a shot from the 18 yard box from Morocco’s left winger Sakina Ouzraoui making the score 1-0 19 minutes in when the ball goes straight into the bottom left corner of the net with Kenya’s keeper Lilian Awuor not being able to reach and save it in time.

The second goal came only nine minutes after. The chance came from a corner which lead to a brilliant header scored by Morocco’s number 16, centre back,  Maryame Atiq. 

Four minutes later Morocco score another goal this time a header from Idtissam Jraïdi who plays her club football in Saudi Arabia. Making them three nil up at the halftime whistle.

Kenya starts the second half making three changes subbing out all their players that were playing on the right hand side giving some fresh legs to the whole right side of the pitch for the second half. Morocco kept the same eleven players on the pitch that they started with.

Morocco was clearly trying to carry on where they left off having lots of attacking threat. In the 46th minute Idtissam Jraïdi managed to get her brace by scoring a second goal.

Another good chance for Morocco happened in the 67th minute with a free kick taken by Yasmin Mrabet but it was saved by Lilian Awuor. Only a few minutes later Kenya also had a good shot but it did get saved by Khadija Er-Rmichi Morocco’s 36 year old goalkeeper.

Final score 4-0

Morocco now leads group A on goal difference having the same number of points as Algeria who played the same day and won 2-0 to Senegal. With a competitive group like group A is every point as goal can matter with only two teams in each group getting into the knockout stages of the tournament.
