If you follow MotoGP, Nadia needs no introduction, but for those who don’t, Nadia is Gresini Racing’s boss. Let's delve into her story.

Padovani’s Past
Nadia grew up in Motor Valley, located in Emilia-Romagna, an area famous for its pronounced automotive culture and refined motorcycle engineering. Her whole childhood was surrounded by racing long before she would enter MotoGP. Interestingly, Padovani originally pursued a career in the medical field as a nurse, but then she met Fausto Gresini, which changed the course of her life. The two-time 1255cc World Champion and Nadia got married and went on to have 4 children, whom she would care for full-time: Lorenzo, Luca, Alice, and Agnese.
Nadia’s emergence in MotoGP
Nadia’s takeover of the team came following the passing of Fausto in early 2021, and she had to choose either to sell her husband’s legacy or continue it and step up as Team Owner and Team Principal. Her decision was heavily influenced by the motivation to fulfil her late husband's “secret wish” and make Gresini an independent MotoGP Team once again. It wasn’t just Fausto’s wife who picked up the pieces as Lorenzo stepped into an administrative role while Luca joined the sporting aspect.
Padovani bloomed in her newfound status and would be known as the “Mama of MotoGP”. She went on to honour Fausto’s wish and oversaw Gresini’s transition to Ducati, as a standalone outfit, from Aprilia. Under her guidance, Enea Bastianini took victory at the 2022 Qatar Grand Prix, making her the first-ever female Owner and Principal to get gold with a rider.

Another milestone she hit was the signing of 9-time world champion and arguably one of the best on the MotoGP grid, Marc Márquez, in 2024. Nadia was the light in the darkness for Gresini, and she has proven her worth in MotoGP, as in 2025, Gresini became the Best Independent Team with Álex Márquez being the World Championship runner-up. Both her riders got awards in 2025 as well, with Márquez crowned as Best Independent Rider and Aldeguer as Rookie of the Year. Moreover, every rider to be taken under Nadia’s wing has achieved at least one MotoGP win, showcasing her leadership and strength as a Team Owner and Principal. Padovani not only has contributed toothers’s success but also has been recognised for her own work, winning Moto de Plata and Entrepreneur of the Year in Faenza for her outstanding leadership and determination.

Nadia Padovani has built an empire of respect as a woman in motorsports, especially as there is a significant lack of female representation in MotoGP. Nadia is living proof of how setbacks can be moulded into wonderful opportunities: her story is etched in the history books, and there will always be more success to come from her.
