World Athletics Indoor Championships Torun Poland Recap

On March 20th-22nd the World Athletics Indoor Championships took place in Torun , Poland This is where athletes from all over the world came to give it their all.

Women’s High Jump Final


The Day 1 of the world athletics indoor championships started with Yaroslava Mahuchikh from Ukraine became the world indoor champion on women’s high jump with a jump of 2.01m . Nicola Olyslagers from Australia , Angelina Topic from Serbia and Yuliia Levchenko from Ukraine all came second with a jump of 1.99m.


Women’s Shot Put Final


Later that day Chase Jackson from USA became the world indoor champion on women’s shot put with a throw of 20.14m . Sarah Mitton from Canada was second with a throw of 19.78m and third was Axelina Johansson from Sweden with a throw of 19.75m setting a new National Record.


Men’s Triple Jump Final 


In the men’s triple jump Andy Diaz Hernandez from Italy became the world indoor champion with a jump of 17.47m. Second place was Jordan Scott from Jamaica with a jump of 17.33m and third was Yasser Mohammed Tahar Triki from Algeria with a jump of 17.33m.


Men’s 60m Final

Last event of the day 1 at night Jordan Anthony from USA is the world indoor champion in the men’s 60m final with a time of 6.41 seconds. Second was Kishane Thompson from Jamaica with a time of 6.45 seconds  and third was Trayvon Bromell from USA with a time of 6.45 seconds.


Mixed 4x400m Relay Final


On the morning of day 2 Team Belgium became the world indoor champion on the mixed 4x400m relay with a time of 3:15.60 setting a new championship record . Second was team Spain with a time of 3:16.96 and third was team Poland with a time of 3:17.44.


Men’s High Jump Final 


In the men’s high jump Oleh Doroshchuk from Ukraine became the world indoor champion with a jump of 2.30m . Second was Erick Portillo from Mexico with a jump of 2.30m and third were Raymond Anthony Richards from Jamaica and Sanghyeok Woo with a jump of 2.26m.


Men’s Pole Vault Final


On the afternoon of day 2 Mondo Duplantis from Sweden became the world indoor champion in the men’s pole vault with a jump of 6.25m setting a new championship record. Second was Emmanouil Karalis from Greece with a jump of 6.05 and third was Kurtis Marschall from Australia with a jump of 6.00m.


Men’s 400m Final


In the 400m men final Christopher Morales Williams from Canada is the world indoor champion with a time of 44.76m setting a new championship record . Second was Khaleb McRae from USA with a time of 45.03 and third was Jereem Richards from Trinidad & Tobago with a time of 45.39.


Men’s Heptathlon 


In the men’s Heptathlon Simon Ehammer from Switzerland is the world indoor champion by setting a new world record with 6670 points . Second was Heath Baldwin from USA with 6637 points and third was Kyle Garland from USA with 6245 points.


Women’s 3000m Final 


In the women’s 3000m Final Nadia Battocletti from Italy is the world indoor champion with a time of 8:57.64. Second was Emily Mackay from the USA with a time of 8:58.12 and third was Jessica Hull from Australia with a time of 8:58.18. 


Men’s 3000m Final


In the men’s 3000m Josh Kerr from Great Britain is the world indoor champion with a time of 7:35.56. Second was Cole Hocker from the USA with a time of 7:35.70 and third was Yann Schrub from France with a time of 7:35.71.


Women’s Triple Jump Final


In women’s triple jump Leyanis Perez Hernádez from Cuba is the world indoor champion with a jump of 14.97m . Second was Yulimar Rojas from Venezuela with a jump of 14.86m and third was Saly Sarr from Senegal with a jump of 14.70m setting a new personal best.


Women’s 400m Final


On the night of the women’s 400m final Lurdes Gloria Manuel from Czech Republic is the world indoor champion with a time of 50.76 setting a new personal best. Second was Natalia Bukowiecka from Poland with a time of 50.83 equalizing the national record and third was Lieke Klaver from the Netherlands with a time of 51.02.


Men’s 60m Hurdles 


In the men’s 60m hurdles Jakub Szymánski from Poland became the world indoor champion with a time of 7.40 . Second was Quique Llopis from Spain with a time of 7.42 setting a new national record and third was Trey Cunningham with a time of 7.43.


Women’s 60m Final


In the last event of the day Zaynab Dosso from Italy became  the world indoor champion with a time of 7.00. Second was Jacious Sears from USA with a time of 7.03 setting a new season best and third was Julien Alfred from Saint Lucia with a time of 7.03.


Women’s Long Jump Final


On the morning of Day 3 Agathe De Sousa from Portugal became the world indoor champion with a jump of 6.92m . Second was Larissa Iapichino from Italy with a jump of 6.87m and third was Natalia Linares from Colombia with a jump of 6.80m.


Men’s Shot Put Final


In the men’s shot put Tom Walsh from New Zealand became the world indoor champion with a throw of 21.82m . Second was Jordan Geist from USA with a throw of 21.64m and third was Roger Steen from USA with a throw of 21.49m.


Women’s Pole Vault Final


On the afternoon of day 3 in women’s pole vault Molly Caudery from Great Britain is the world indoor champion with a jump of 4.85m. Second was Tina Sutej from Slovenia with a jump of 4.80m and third were Amálie Švábíková from Czech Republic, Imogen Ayris from New Zealand and Angelica Mosser from Switzerland with a jump of 4.70m.


Men’s 1500m Final 


In the men’s 1500m Mariano García from Spain is the world indoor champion with a time of 3:39.63. Second was Isaac Nader from Portugal with a time of 3:40.06 and third was Adam Spencer from Australia with a time of 3:40.26.


Men’s Long Jump Final


In the men’s long jump Gerson Baldé from Portugal is the world indoor champion with a jump of 8.46m. Second was Mattia Furlani from Italy with a jump of 8.39m and third was Bozhidar Saraboyukov from Bulgaria with a jump of 8.31m.


Women’s 1500m Final


In the women’s 1500m Georgia Hunter Bell from Great Britain is the world indoor champion with a time of 3:58.53. Second was Jessica Hull from Australia with a time of 3:59.45 and third was Nikki Hiltz from USA with a time of 3:59.68.


Men’s 800m Final


In the men’s 1500m Cooper Lutkenhaus from USA who is only 17 years old became the world indoor champion with a time of 1:44.24 . Second was Eliot Crestan from Belgium with a time of 1:44.38 and third was Mohamed Attaoui from Spain with a time of 1:44.66.


Women’s 800m Final


In the women’s 800m Keely Hodgkinson from Great Britain became the world indoor champion with a time of 1:55.30 . Second was Audrey Werro from Switzerland with a time of 1:56.64 setting a new National Record and third was Addy Wiley from the USA with a time of 1:58.36.


Women’s Pentathlon


In the women’s pentathlon Sofie Dokter from the Netherlands is the world indoor champion with 4888 points . Second was Anna Hall from the USA with 4860 points and third was Kate O’Connor from Ireland with 4839 points setting a new national record.


Women’s 60m Hurdles Final


In the women’s 60m hurdles Devynne Charlton from Bahamas is the world indoor champion with a time of 7.65 to equal the world record . Second was Nadine Visser from the Netherlands with a time of 7.73 setting a new season best and third was Pia Skrzyszowska from Poland with a time of 7.73 setting a new national record.


Men’s 4x400m Relay Final


 Team USA took the win by setting a new championships record with a time of 3:01.52 . Second was team Belgium with a time of 3:03.29 and third was team Jamaica with a time of 3:05.99.


Women’s 4x400m Relay Final


In the last event of the world athletics indoor championships team USA became the world indoor champion with a time of 3:25.81 . Second was team Netherlands with a time of 3:26.00 and third was team Spain with a time of 3:26.04.
