The world rallying championship hits Croatia this weekend, but what do you need to know?

This is round four of the World Rally Championships for 2026, taking place from the 9th to the 12th April, giving fans a thrilling four days of racing and action. Brand new for this year, the Croatian rally has relocated, now taking place in Rijeka whereas previously it began in Zagreb. This route marks the first tarmaced one of the season, bringing us 20 stages and 300km of competitive distance.
Here is the schedule for the weekend
Thursday 9th - Shakedown and Ceremonial Opening
Friday 10th - Sections 1 to 8
Saturday 11th - Sections 9 to 16
Sunday 12th - Sections 17 to 20
As mentioned, the route begins in Rijeka, with the service park being at Grobnik Circuit, and finally ending in Opatija. This route promises to bring a challenge to the drivers and excitement to the fan. The terrain now has more variety than previous editions, spreading across coastal, mountainous and inland terrain. It brings a real mix to the table.
If you’re wondering what to look out for, the narrow and twisty asphalt roads bring blind corners and thrilling jumps - a promising site for action. I’d also keep an eye on the weather, a patch of rain could change times drastically - change the way drivers approach, roads, corners and even jumps.

In terms of who to watch this weekend, many fans are keeping their eyes on Elfyn Evans, driver for Toyota Gazoo Racing. He was a strong driver and a winner on the previous route, meaning many are awaiting for what he will bring this weekend. He has also excelled on multiple other tarmaced routes, will he excel again?
