Acosta Takes The Win in Austria
Pedro Acosta claimed his first MotoGP Grand Prix victory at the Red Bull Ring this weekend after a strong recovery drive after a difficult start. Jorge Martín finished second, with Marco Bezzecchi completing the podium.
Acosta Fought His Way Through The Field
Martín got a strong start from pole and led the pack into the first corner, while Bezzecchi and Ogura also got a good start off the line. Acosta didn't start as well as Martín, quickly dropping down till fifth, but quickly started his fight back to the top, he quickly got past Marc Márquez and Ogura before moving into second.
The KTM rider then caught Martín and attacked him for the lead on lap nine. Acosta made the move stick and immediately began to pull away from the pack.
Battle Behind the Leader
Martín remained very close behind Acosta for several laps, but Acosta constantly maintained a strong rhythm at the front. Behind them, Bezzecchi came under pressure from Ai Ogura before eventually closing back in on Martín.
The fight for second stayed close during the final stages of the race. Bezzecchi was only a couple of tenths behind Martín, but the Aprilia rider kept his teammate behind him and crossed the line in second.
Márquez's race was a more difficult one. He ran wide early on in the race and lost several positions before recovering to fifth place. Brad Binder finished in sixth ahead of Bagnaia and Aldeguer
Acosta Finally Gets a Win
Acosta completed the final laps without a single mistake and crossed the finish line to get his first MotoGP victory. It was also a strong response after his crash from the lead in the sprint on Saturday.
