Bondarev Takes Victory on FREC Debut
The Ukrainian driver turned pole position into victory during his FREC debut.
Bondarev started Race 3 on pole with championship leader Emanuele Olivieri starting alongside him on the front row.
Olivieri had a poor start off the line which allowed Bondarev to have a good getaway. With some cars going off, the Rodin of Gabriel Gomez was sent to rear of field
Lammers ended up in the barrier which led to yellow flag being waved and the safety car being deployed. Yuki Sano and Salim Hanna also ended up off track, three retirements moments from each other
On restart, Bondarev had a great restart trying to extend the gap between himself and Olivieri. Yellow flags were waved for the second time this race, with Maschio trying to go around the outside of Abkhazava with both drivers out of the race and another safety car deployed.
The second restart went well for Olivieri who was right on the back of Bondarev. G4 Racing had a car out of the race with Alibhai, making it a trifecta of safety cars during the race so far.
It was pedal to the metal for the fourth time, and another great start from Bondarev and it was he who crossed the line a race winner on his debut in the series. Olivieri managed to finish the race in second, extending his championship lead and Reno Francot rounding off the podium from a successful Imola weekend.
