Lando Norris has officially been crowned the 2025 Formula One World Driver’s Champion after a phenomenal season. This season for Norris has been full of highs and lows. This article is going to give a brief insight into the season Norris has had.

Norris’s season
Norris started the season on a high, winning in Australia, while placing on the podium in the Chinese, Japanese, and Bahrain Grand Prix, with rival Oscar Piastri taking wins and starting to lead the championship. After another podium finish in Miami and placing P4 in Saudi Arabia, Norris would achieve his dream and win the Monaco Grand Prix. After a heartbreaking DNF in Canada, Norris would then take an emotional win at his home Grand Prix, that being the British Grand Prix. After more podium finishes, he would suffer a mechanical DNF in the Dutch Grand Prix, which at that point saw his championship hopes slip away. Norris would regain those points with wins and podiums, which saw him lead the championship after Mexico. A DSQ would come McLaren's way after the Las Vegas Grand Prix, which meant Norris would have to score 2 more points than his rivals in Qatar to take his title. He went into the last race of the season 12 points ahead of Max Verstappen.
Norris’s setbacks
After his DNF in Canada due to a collision with his teammate and hitting the wall, Norris’s point difference would increase to 22 points. With finishes like P4, P7, and other results that do not include podiums, while Piastri was getting wins, it put a slight dent in Norris’s title hopes. His 2nd DNF in the Netherlands due to an engine issue almost put his chances in jeopardy. With a 34-point gap, he would have to retain from his teammate with 9 races to go. He would take those points back and lead the championship after the Mexican Grand Prix. Norris, along with his teammate Piastri would suffer a disqualification in Las Vegas due to both cars having a skid block breach, which put his closest rivals, Verstappen and Piastri, on 366 points each.

The things to remember
Norris has achieved so much this year. Clawing back 34 points to have led the championship by 24 points, winning memorable grand prix’s like Monaco, Great Britain, Mexico, Australia, and more. He was able to fend off drivers like his teammate Oscar Piastri, along with four-time champion Max Verstappen, who made a stunning comeback in the championship. After a season that has been memorable for Norris, he takes the driver's champion trophy, which he has very much deserved.
