BREAKING NEWS : 15 YEAR OLD SPRINTER TANIESHA GAYLE PASSED AWAY

A track and field athlete who was only 15 years old passed away after she collapsed during a training session. The sudden death of one of Edwin Allen High School’s young track and field athletes on Friday, 12th September, caused the school to go into a state of mourning.

Taniesha Gayle from Jamaica has unfortunately passed away at the age of 15. The student athlete, who was a member of the successful medley relay team at the 2025 ISSA Boys and Girls Athletics Championships, died at the Percy Junor Hospital.

The reports indicate that after Taniesha and some of her team members had a break during a training session, Taniesha was unable to continue, collapsing onto the ground. Despite being assisted by another female staff member, she couldn't be revived and failed to respond. She was rushed to the school doctor in Frankfield, where she was later transferred to the Percy Junor Hospital. It was at this hospital that the heartbreaking news came that she had passed away. 

The entire school family, including members of the track and field team, are devastated. Her family, friends, teammates, and the entire school community are all in our prayers during this difficult time. May her young soul rest in peace.
