It is confirmed that Gabby Thomas will not compete in the world championships this month due to an achilles injury, which she has been struggling with since May and suffered a setback in July.

It has been reported that Gabby Thomas, an American sprinter, will not compete in the 2025 World Athletics Championships due to an achilles injury, according to NBC Sports.
Thomas, who has won three gold medals at the Paris Olympic Games in women's 200m, 4x100m and the 4x400m, has been battling with an achilles injury since May that worsened in July. Thomas acknowledges that it will be disappointing for all the track and field fans to hear this news but also recognises the importance of being human and taking care of herself. Despite her desire to keep training, she acknowledged that in this situation, it is best to focus on overcoming the injury. Additionally, it’s also about patience and making the right decisions for the long-term- the long term for her being to fight for the medals at Tokyo with Team USA.
Thomas was scheduled to compete in the 200m at the World Championships. On August 3rd, she participated in the USA Track and Field Championships and placed 3rd in women’s 200m, beating out second-place Brittany Brown, who was an Olympic bronze medalist. The USA’s world championship team saw Brittany Brown qualify for the world championships through her victory in the final Diamond League.
Finally, McKenzie Long, who placed 5th at the USA Track and Field Championships and has a season best of 21.93, will be competing in Gabby Thomas’ place while Thomas will be absent from the world championships. Tokyo, Japan, will host the World Athletics Championships from 13th September up to 21st September.
