Egozi Takes Victory at Race 1 in Monza
Yet another win for the American driver at the Temple of Speed which sees him further extending his championship lead.
Starting on pole for Race 1 at Monza is Palou Motorsports Rafael Perard alongside him was meant to be his teammate, James Egozi however he got a 5-place grid penalty for impeding Al Azhari which promoted Powell to second for the race start. The lights went green at the Temple of Speed as Alex Powell wasn’t able to get moving and Egozi managed to get himself up three places into fourth on the first corner. Perard was comfortably leading the first lap, 1.1 seconds in front of Heuzenroeder. Wheel to wheel went Patrick Heuzenroeder and Al Azhari and the Emirati driver was able to get ahead into second place.
Championship leader James Egozi made the move on Patrick Heuzenroeder to get up into the podium places. Into the pits went Technicar’s Kacper Sztuka with what looks to be a suspension issue. Rene Lammers also managed to get ahead of Heuzenroeder on Lap 5. Using the push to pass system, Lammers overtook Al Azhari for the third place spot. James Egozi managed to get himself to the lead of the race.
Yellow flags being waved for the Hitech of Bostandjiev whose car got stuck in the gravel at the first Lesmo. This led to a safety car deployment, neutralising the grid. The restart saw an excellent getaway from James Egozi. Lammers went wheel to wheel with El Feghali and the Lebanese driver managed to get ahead into third.
Palau Motorsport teammates Egozi and Perard were battling for position in the final two laps, Perard trying to get back into the lead. Lammers got back into third place, will he manage a podium finish?
The chequered flag got waved and it was another race victory for Egozi, extending his championship lead some more. His teammate Perard took second place and the final podium place saw MP Motorsport’s Rene Lammers.
