EHF FINAL4 Women 2026 Preview

It's finally time for this year’s FINAL4 in Women’s handball. Here is everything you need to know ahead of an exciting weekend.
Explainer:
Similar to football, handball has their own Champions League in European handball as well, bringing together the best teams from across the continent to compete for the ultimate title throughout the season.
The Champions League’s format starts with a group stage, where teams are divided into groups and play each other home and away.
The top teams from these groups then move on to the knockout rounds, which includes play-offs and quarter-finals. These are decided over two legs, with each team playing one game home and one away.
From there the pressure rises, as they reach the final stage, the Raiffeisen Bank EHF FINAL4 - also known as the FINAL4. Here the tournament culminates over a single-weekend event held at the MVM Dome in Budapest, Hungary from the 6th till 7th of June.
The Teams:
The first team participating is the home-favorite Györi Audi ETO KC. The Hungarian team beat Team Esbjerg 29:28, making them the first finalists for the FINAL4. They will be looking to get their seventh EHFCL (EHF Champions League) title.
Brest Bretagne Handball - also known as BBH or Brest - is the second of the four teams participating in this year’s FINAL4. The french club booked a ticket to the
tournament in Budapest by beating Gloria Bistrita at home. This will be the second campaign in the FINAL4 for Brest after having finished as runners-up in 2021.
CSM București is used to seeing the quarter finals, but have yet to make it further since the 2017/2018 season. Though due to a win against Team Esbjerg 37:27, the Romanian team is breaking an eight-year long curse by making it to this year’s FINAL4.
The last participating team is the second french team, Metz Handball. Despite this being their fifth consecutive season making it to the FINAL4, the team is yet to reach the finals with their best result so far being a bronze medal in 2022.
