Luke Hilton took his first GB4 race victory at Donington Park after starting on pole.

With some pretty revised qualifying results due to penalties it was Luke Hilton for Nitrous Competitions ADM Racing who started the race in pole position with Fortec Motorsports Franciszek Cegielski behind him. The Douglas Motorsport of Dayton Coulthard in third and Hillspeed’s Demitri Nolan in fourth, his first start in the top 10. To round off the top 5 for the starting grid it was Cegielski’s teammate Jordyn Martin.
The lights go green and an excellent start for Luke Hilton, with a few of the Elite Motorsport and Hillspeed cars towards the back going wide. Alex O’Grady got ahead of Jordyn Martin, the KMR Sport car really proving its pace. Towards the end of the first lap the cars of Conor Grant and Archie Davies collided with each other, both drivers out of the race, triggering a safety car.
An impressive performance in the first lap from Emilio Valentino Del Grosso who started in 24th and made his way up 18th.
With 9 minutes to go, it was back to green, another great start for Hilton, and the rest of the drivers getting a good restart. Dayton Coulthard was putting the Fortec of Cegielski under pressure. Fred Green and Thomas Ingram Hill went wheel to wheel but it was Green who got ahead.
Hallman managed to make a move on Enzo Rujigiro for tenth position and there was contact for Jasser Iskander with John O’Donnell with Iskander going off into the gravel at Redgate in their fight for eighth position.
On the Melbourne Hairpin was the Arden Motorsport of Michael Koh who came to a complete stop. Fred Green made it up to the top 10 and considering he started in 17th, it was exceptional progress. What could have been a good weekend Fox Motorsport ended the race with two of their drivers retiring, Rujigiro was now out of the race.
A slight lock-up from Demitri Nolan who will be the pole sitter for the second race. The fastest lap towards the end of the race was set by his Hillspeed teammate - Enzo Hallman.
Taking the chequered flag was Luke Hilton for his first GB4 race win, Cegielski taking second and Dayton Coulthard taking the final podium position. And an impressive finish in P4 for Hillspeed’s Demitri Nolan, his current best GB4 finish.
Antonia Rankin caught up with race winner Hilton after the race.
AR - “Luke, that was an absolutely exceptional drive from pole to win, what are your emotions right now?”
LH - “I have no words, I just want to thank everyone involved. Nitrous ADM really deserve that, Gary Ward has really put in the hard work and thank you to David Williams for everything with the team and to the mechanics and my engineer Andre. I really can’t thank everyone enough.”
