As we leave the forests of Spa Francorchamps and wave goodbye to Eau Rouge, the Hungaroring is ready to welcome the F1 circus. Here’s everything you need to know about the track ahead of the weekend!

The first Grand Prix hosted at the Hungaroring was in 1986. The track's debut was one by Nelson Piquet after he overtook Ayrton Senna’s Lotus to take the lead. Ever since, we have seen nail-biting battles across the 306.63km course. With 70 laps of racing action coming our way, can any of the drivers beat Lewis Hamilton’s fastest lap and track record of 1:16.627?
Last time around, Oscar Piastri took his maiden Grand Prix Victory at this circuit; however, it was rather tainted by the actions of McLaren and the introduction of “Papaya Rules”. With Lando in the lead and a few seconds up the road from Oscar, the team ordered Norris to switch positions with his teammate. Many believe that Oscar was “gifted” his win and it’s understandable why.
This track is also known for its unique Grand Prix trophies, sourced from the Herend Porcelain Manufactory. The manufacturer has been hand-crafting porcelain trophies for the circuit since 2006, approximately taking 6 months to create and costing €40,000. The reason these trophies are so well remembered by fans is a result of an accident caused by Lando Norris’ podium celebration in 2023, where one of the porcelain trophies belonging to Max Verstappen was smashed. As an apology, Norris the following year, sported a special helmet around the Hungarian circuit which featured designs hand-painted by the Porcelain company.

With the McLarens in a league of their own and championship dreams on the line, which of the papaya cars will outdo the other? One championship, two drivers, one team: the fight continues at the Hungaroring.
