Korea Republic vs Uzbekistan - Second Game of the AFC Quarter Finals

A recap of the tense quarter final game between two incredible teams, plenty of action and one team makes their way to the semi-finals, whilst the other finds their spot in the World Cup qualifiers.

Off the bat, this was a dominant game by Korea Republic, they held control of the ball and sent shot after shot to the Uzbekistan goal.

It took just 9 minutes for them to capitalise with a goal from Son Hwa-Yeon, putting them up 1-0 against Uzbekistan.

The 20th minute arrived, and so did the second goal for Korea, scored by Yoo-Jin Ko.

Korea’s handle of the game continued, and in the 45th minute both teams used substitutions to freshen the energy on the pitch, a double substitution from Korea and a single from Uzbekistan set both teams up, ready for the next half.

As the second half began, Soo-Jeong Park scored the third goal for Korea at 57 minutes in. This pushed Uzbekistan to utilise a double substitution, followed by a single substitution from Korea.

The 72nd minute saw Korea’s fourth goal by Ji So-Yun, followed by further substitutions from both sides.

The 85th minute saw substitute Lee Eun-Young score Korea’s fifth goal of the game, securing them an almost definite win, but they didn’t relax, they kept pushing right until the final whistle.

In the third minute of injury time, Korea were awarded a penalty, taken by Jang Sel-Gi and sent straight into the net to secure a sixth and final goal for the game.

Korea Republic will no doubt be putting in a performance in the semi-finals, and Uzbekistan will focus on their World Cup qualifying game.
