This weekend during the 2026 Hungarian MotoGP race at Balaton Park Circuit, Marc Márquez put his name in motorcycle racing history, the nine-time World Champion rode an incredible race to get his 100th career victory across all the grand prix classes.

Turn 1 Drama
The eighth round of the 2026 MotoGP season was turned around completely before the first lap was even finished. Aprilia Racing Jorge Martín, launched from eighth on the grid, but he completely misjudged his braking marker into turn 1.
The collision that followed his mistake was absolute chaos. Martín slammed into the side of Marco Bezzecchi and the chain that followed took out three other riders: Fermin Aldeguer, Raúl Fernández and Fabio Di Giannantonio. While Di Giannantonio was able to finish the race and become 12th, the other four were left in the gravel, fortunately, the medical checks cleared both Aprilia riders, though Martín was handed a double long-lap penalty by the steward for the next round.

The Fight For The Lead
With the dominant Aprilia riders out of the race, the battle for the lead became a duel between pole-sitter Marc Márquez and KTM rider Pedro Acosta.
Márquez had a small wheelspin at the start of the race, allowing Acosta to get the lead for the second lap of the race, during the first half of the race, the two riders went back-and-forth with the fastest laps and rapidly creating a gap to the rest of the field. The race really got underway with just 13 laps to go when Márquez launched a dive under Acosta at the Turn 9 chicane. Acosta cut back on the exit, forcing Márquez to go wide, but he wasn’t finished. A few laps later, Márquez did the same move, but this time he was successful and got his way into the lead and he finished the race +1.343 seconds clear of Acosta.

Bagnaia Finishes The Podium
Far behind Márquez and Acosta, Francesco Bagnaia had a lonely, and calculated ride to complete the podium. He was struggling to match Márquez’s and Acosta pace around this technical and anti-clockwise circuit, the Ducati rider was focused on bringing his bike home safely. Bagnaia crossed the finish line +11.6 seconds back behind Marco Márquez, securing the points to close the gap on Bezzechi in the championship.
The battles in the midfield saw Trackhouse’s Ai Ogura secure a fourth place, while Luca Marini and Diogo Moreira brought the points back to their garage by rounding out the top six of this race.
