Malaysia set to host 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang

Formula 1 and the FIA have confirmed that Sepang International Circuit will host the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix on October 2-4.

Formula 1 and the FIA confirmed that Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit will host this year’s Bahrain Grand Prix, following the cancellation of the race earlier this season. 

The race will take place on October 2-4, slotting in between the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix, and will keep the name Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix despite being hosted in Malaysia. 

The original Bahrain Grand Prix, scheduled in April, was cancelled because of the conflict in the Middle East. They had hoped to reinstate the event to the calendar at a later date, but the continuation of the conflict has forced a change of plan. 

“We are delighted to confirm that Malaysia will host the Bahrain Grand Prix in 2026,” said Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1. “Once again, the sport has demonstrated its ability to adapt, find solutions, and deliver, creating an exciting moment for everyone who follows Formula 1. 

Sepang International Circuit made its debut as an F1 circuit in 1999 and is one of Formula One’s most iconic and challenging circuits. The circuit last hosted a race in 2017 and is a popular track with fans. 

“Malaysia is an incredible country, and Sepang holds a special place in Formula 1 history. It will provide a spectacular setting for racing and an unforgettable experience for fans at the circuit and watching around the world,” said Domenicali. 

Ticket details are expected to be announced soon. The rest of the 2026 season schedule remains unchanged.
