The French Grand Prix is already around the corner, the grand prix will take place from 8th of may till the 10th of May, the race will take place at the famous Bugatti circuit. This race will be the fifth of the 2026 motogp season, it will be important for the standings, because will the Aprilia keep being dominant. The track is also technically challenging , because this circuit  is known for its late breaking and hard acceleration.

After the last race in Spain the drivers are arriving in France ready to give it their all again. The standings are also looking a bit different after last race, because the leaders are starting to pull away in the standings, but still the gap in the top 5 remains close, so a single mistake at the circuit could mean that Marco Bezzecchi loses his lead in the championship.

The Technical Challenge

The Bugatti Circuit was built in 1965 and is 4.19 KM long. This circuit isn’t like Mugello with the flowing curves, it's a tight track dominated by first gear corners.

The Bugatti circuit has 14 corners in total, 5 corners to the left and 9 to the right. These corners demand late breaking and hard acceleration. The key to a fast lap at this circuit lies in the confidence that the rider has in his braking, and ability to keep the front-end stable, corners like the Dunlop Chicane and the Garage Vert hairpin are known for testing the confidence that riders have on the brakes, while the final corner provides a perfect stage for a last-lap lunge.

Current Standings

This is what the top 5 standings look like for this weekend:

1st: Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia)  - 101 points

2nd : Jorge Martín (Aprilia)  - 90 points

3nd: Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46 Racing) - 71 points

4th: Pedro Acosta (KTM) - 66 points

5th: Marc Márquez (Ducati)  - 57 points

Marco Bezzechi is currently leading the standings with a 11 point lead over his teammate Jorge Martín, but the eyes will be on Marc Márquez who is known as the “ King of Le Mans” among the active riders with 3 wins on this circuit, and after the DNF in Jerez he will be hunting for a redemption at a track where he has excelled in in the past.

The Home Heroes

For the French fans, this weekend is not only about the race. Fabio Quartararo who is known as a local icon, is also the one who holds the all-time lap record (1:29.324 set in 2025). Although Yamaha has some challenges this season with the new V4 engine, Quartarao has the ability to find “something extra” in front of his home crowd, which makes him unpredictable.

Joining him is Johann Zarco (LCR Honda), who will be looking to take advantage of some of the chaos that the French weather might bring.
