For those who don't know Sebastian Vettel, here is a small introduction. Sebastian Vettel was an F1 driver who built a legendary career between 2007-2022 with 4 Drivers' World Championships, 299 Grand Prix starts, 57 pole positions, 53 wins and 122 podiums to his name. Since retiring at the end of the 2022 season, Vettel continues to work off-track, raising awareness to save the world from the threat of climate change. For someone with his sense of humor, he takes caring for the world and environment pretty seriously.

So far, he’s built "Bee Hotels" at the first corner of Suzuka in 2023, naming it the "BUZZIN' CORNER," showcased a giant Senna helmet made out of recycled materials last year at Interlagos whilst honouring the late Brazilian driver and recently announced another campaign earlier this season named "SOS OSTSEE." This initiative aims to protect an endangered species living in the Baltic Sea called "Schweinswale" which translates to "Harbour Porpoises" or "Pig Whales"). His newest project, brought to this race weekend, has been titled "F1 rest - Drawn Together" to alert people of the danger illegal mining is bringing to the Amazon Rainforest.

The Origins

A short view back to the past, in October 2024, Vettel paid a visit to the indigenous people living in the Amazon, partnering with Greenpeace and Instituto Raoni. There, he learned about the efforts of local people, who are living in peace with nature and trying to prevent illegal miners from destroying nature. He claims, "It is fascinating to see how they are trying to preserve their lands. I think there are lots of lessons and experiences to be learned from this - like living with the nature. It would be a shame if that knowledge were to be lost.". This year, he came back to raise even more awareness to save the biggest rainforests on earth.

What is "F1 rest - Drawn Together"?

This new project of Sebastian Vettel aims to encourage both Brazilians of all ages and people all around the world to draw a tree. Anyone who has ever read/watched The Hobbit or/and The Lord of the Rings trilogies knows the influence the smallest people and actions can have in changing the world forever and that's exactly what Vettel is trying to do with F1 rest. In his latest press interview, he said that, if a better relationship can be built with nature, starting with a simple act such as drawing a tree, then maybe people can be inspired to choose to protect the trees and as a result, protect each other. In order to spread awareness, all the drawn and collected trees will be put together to be showcased before the Grand Prix.

Formula 1's Effect On Sebastian’s Projects

F1 media plays a vital part in radiating Vettel's influence. Through worldwide broadcasting and a large range of media sources, F1 has the capacity to reach millions every day. Even a single overtake can inspire so many people and as a former driver, Vettel is aware of this spreading influence, utilising it to its full effect.

By taking part in this, whether with a small or big act in our daily lives or just pushing the share button, we can help his him achieve his goals. Danke Sebastian for showing us the way to the future!
