Formula says goodbye to the Styrian mountains and hello to the home of motorsport racing - Silverstone. Before our cars go racing here is what you should know about the British Grand Prix.

Track Facts
Silverstone is located in Northamptonshire, England and is the host of the British Grand Prix with it having hosted the first ever Formula One Grand Prix back in 1950. It is a clockwise track with 18 corners but two of them are held to a high regard in motorsports - Maggots and Becketts - for its high speed and flowing nature. Silverstone is considered one of the old school tracks with grass and gravel marking the edge of the race track. More recent crashes at Silverstone include Guanyu Zhou into Abbey and Max Verstappen into Copse. With a track length of 5.891km our race distance is 306.198km which equates to 52 laps. The cars fly around this track with them exceeding 200mph down the Hangar Straight keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
2025 Recap
Last year Lando Norris took his first home win with teammate Oscar Piastri making it a 1-2 finish for McLaren while Nico Hulkenberg scored his first career podium alongside Sauber. The race was one of mixed conditions with rain one minute and sunshine the next forcing some interesting strategies across the grid. Verstappen, who was on pole, initially struggled as the conditions deteriorated and the rain came down causes him to spin off track and go tumbling down the order to join the back markers. Piastri was on track for a victory but a 10 second time penalty for an incident behind the safety car resulted in Norris inheriting the lead and thus the win.
2026 Expectations
As always we expect to see Mercedes and Ferrari battle it out for the front row in Northampton. Red Bull and McLaren both look strong with Red Bull having a good weekend taking 2nd in Austria, and McLaren set to bring a small development to their car accompanying the new Mercedes battery upgrade to aid them further in the championship fight. But what can Silverstone serve us this season?
