Despite the third season of Ted Lasso neatly concluding the story of the eponymous football coach who goes to England to manage Premier League side AFC Richmond, it has recently been announced that the show will be returning for a new season.

Just two years after - what seemed to be - the final episode of Ted Lasso aired on Apple TV+, it has been confirmed that season 4 of the smash-hit sports show is returning for a new season.
With this in mind, here’s everything you need to know in advance of the fourth season:
Where did we leave off in season 3?
The end of season 3 of Ted Lasso saw Ted return home to the United States after a three-season run coaching AFC Richmond, the fictional football team depicted throughout the series. The last moments of the finale saw him coaching his son at a recreational league.
What’s the big news about season 4?
Recently, official set photos and videos confirmed that filming for season 4 of Ted Lasso is very much underway, with photos seemingly indicating that the first episode will take place in Kansas City, due to some of the main characters being shown at a restaurant in KC.
As for the plot, we do know that Ted Lasso will be returning to AFC Richmond - but not in the way one might think. According to Apple’s logline for Season 4, “Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”
Who’s back?
The recently-released set photos confirm that Jason Sudeikis, who plays Ted Lasso, will be back alongside Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins), Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton), and Juno Temple (Keeley Jones).
Outside of these core four characters, it has been confirmed that Brett Goldstein, who plays former player and newly-promoted AFC Richmond manager Roy Kent, and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) are also returning and will be producers on this new season.
That said, none of the other stars from the first three seasons have yet been announced as returning for season 4, meaning we will just have to wait patiently for any new casting announcements or set photos to be released!
When is it coming out?
As of July 2025, no official or projected release date for Season 4 has been shared.
