Are you a young and enthusiastic motorsports fan? Yes? Well, did you know you could take part in Williams’ Work Experience Programme? Here’s everything you need to know!

Who are Williams?
Atlassian Williams Racing is a Formula One team established in 1977 by Frank Williams. The team has an abundance of history and 9 World Constructors’ Championships to its name. Currently, the team is led by Team Principal James Vowles, who has contracted the team’s drivers Alexander Albon and Carlos Sainz for the foreseeable future.
What is the Work Experience?
The Grove-based team has an annual opportunity to take part in their work experience programme. During the week, the lucky and carefully accepted students will spend their time working side-by-side with employees at the factory, where the magic happens.
From Williams Racing Website:
“The programme runs from 9am-5pm each day. Over four days, you will get special behind-the-scenes access to Atlassian Williams Racing. Based in our Experience Centre, you have the opportunity to visit our museum, race bays, model shop, learn about procurement, secure some recruitment top tips and take part in a marketing project, amongst other things. Working with students from across the country - it's a great opportunity to build your network and experience life at the Formula 1 team first hand.”

If that piqued your interest and got you buzzing with excitement, you must be wondering how you apply!
The Application Process!
As a team, we thought what better way to learn about the Williams work experience than to ask a previous applicant all our burning questions about the application process!
When in conversation with a member of The Rookie Reporters (who is also a previous applicant), I decided to receive her view and opinions on the application process.
Q- “How accessible would you say the Williams work experience was for you?”
A- “Extremely accessible. All the information needed is all on their Website, which can be found easily. I wrote out a script for my application video on my laptop, filmed my video on my phone, edited it on CapCut, then finally uploaded it to my TikTok and YouTube, but also sent it directly to them. I didn’t need to buy anything to make my video, I had all the resources available.”
Q- “Would you say that it was an easy application process?
A- “I found it very time-consuming, writing a script, then having to perform it until I was happy with the result. Editing it and adding captions was the next layer to my application which I did independently (my mum had helped me with my script- not the filming though). We then had to figure out how to get my application video to my laptop and then to where it needed to be for Williams to see it. I thought about giving them a transcript for my video but they had a word limit and disallowed characters like :;()- I found this strange as surely the team would like to see someone who could use SPaG fluently.”
Q- “What made you choose to apply for Williams' work experience?”
A- “I have always loved Williams and supported them as a fan. I was fortunate to visit their factory and I felt at home with the team there. I decided I may as well try for the work experience as a way to get my foot in the door to work in motorsports.”
Q- “How quick was your application process and how quickly did you receive a response from the Williams team?”
A- “The process took me around a week of dedicated work to prepare and create everything for my application. The responses took a very long time as so many people applied for work experience.
I sent it in on the 23rd of January and got a response on the 3rd of April.”
Q- “5) On a scale from one to ten, how enjoyable was your application process?”
A- “I found it very enjoyable but also stressful knowing everything had to be perfect for them, due to the high standards and knowing how many other people would be applying.”
Will you apply next year?
Now you know all about Williams, their programme, the process and have heard from an applicant, will you be applying for it next year?

We hope this has inspired some more talented young people to apply and take that first step into the world of Formula One. Good luck to everyone who applies in 2026!
